Hi Got A Question From Which People France Got Its Name?

Hi got a question from which people France got its name?

 

Nobody knows for sure. There is a theory, that it came from words "Frank tribes" which might be linked to word "free" in English. At that time Gauls (tribes who lived in the modern territory of France) was the only tribes free from Roman Empire taxes (remember Asterix cartoon?)

By other theory, it came from word "frankon" or "franciska" - name of the weapon. Kinda throwing axe or lance..
